With the "Matrix" and "Lord of the Rings" trilogies, "Bad Boys 2," and "Schindler's List 2: Full Throttle" (rumored), Hollywood is going gaa-gaa for sequels! That's why it's no suprise that someone decided to make a sequel to the biggest suprise hit of last spring: "Boat Trip." Clear the DECK, folks, because we've got "Radio!"
When we last saw Cuba Gooding Jr's "Boat Trip" character, he was pretending he was "gay" in order to woo a female boat tripping enthusiast. Well, now with "Radio," everything's gone topsy-turvy once again and he must pretend he's a retarded football player in the 1960s! Oh boy! If you thought the laughs were OVERBOARD the first time, wait til you see this comedic TOUCHDOWN! Mr. Gooding more than entertains America with this rousing performance, chock full of all the mentally challenged stereotypes we've come to know and love from Hollywood films. It's as if he's summoning all the great handicaped roles of the past and jamming them into one hilarious offensive stereotype! From Forrest Gump's thinly veiled conservative agenda to Rain Man's inappropriate zingers to Sean Penn's cringe inducing over-the-top "specialness" in "I am Sam," Cuba's "Radio" character hits all the right NOTES. If the Academy fails to recognize his brilliance for this tard-de-force, then there is no justice in the world and we all should just bend over now and let the Taliban sodomize our fannies.
Look for a brief cameo by Gooding's "Boat Trip" buddy, Horatio Sanz, as a tackling dummy that gives Gooding's character inspirational advice.
