Well, the summer movie season has been officially kicked off and the most anticipated sequel was released this summer and boy was I in hog heaven..."Pokemon Heroes" surpassed all my expections and delivered the goods promised in its agressive multi-media ad campaign. In this fifth installment (that's right, a quint-tology), Pikachu and his gang of merry misfits: Ash, Tamagotchi, the gay teletubby, Furby, and Jackie Chan's talking penis (it does all its own stunts) collide with the Ikuzo and the Asian Harlem Globetrotters. The trouble begins when Pikachu, undercover in the Ikuzo, stabs a Pokemon to death for saying its name too much, and then steals 10 kilos of cocaine. The Ikuzo hire the deadly assassin family, the Asian Harlem Globetrotters, to track down and kill Pikachu and his friends. Along their way to Mordor, Pikachu and company battle Godzilla, that weird flying old lady from "Spirited Away," and countless crass commerical toy tie-ins. I reccomend this movie for anyone who enjoys Gangland Tokyo knife fights, paper thin plots, and 80 minute long playing card commericals that masquerade as children's movies.
